If you know me, you know how hard I work to make this county the safest place it can possibly be for our families to live and work. I am a working Sheriff as well as an administrative one – I still wear a uniform, and I patrol as actively as any of my deputies. I stay as up-to-date as I can on law enforcement trends and techniques, and I serve the community wherever possible.
In keeping with that effort, I am currently on the board of directors of the Rotary Club, and on the board of advisors at Ogeechee Technical College’s Forensic Science Program. I also serve on the board of advisors at the Savannah River Youth Challenge’s juvenile detention center. I am a 12-year member of the Marine Rescue Squadron, and I work with the Team for the Elderly and the Community Collaborative to solve problems in our community outside the realm of law enforcement.
I am an enthusiastic member of the Booster club, and my deputies and I do everything we can to support school athletics and extra-curricular activities – I believe in the ability of these programs to develop character, discipline, and self-respect, as well as keep otherwise idle hands from mischief. I am a member of numerous law enforcement groups, including the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, the National Sheriffs’ Association, the Georgia Peace Officers’ Association, the Police Benevolent Association, and the Georgia Police Chiefs’ Association. I utilize over 1,900 hours of training to bring you the most efficient and effective Sheriff’s Office possible.
The most important thing the Sheriff does is help the people. I have an open-door policy; anyone can come to the Sheriff’s Office and sit down and talk with me about a problem, and I always do my best to help – it’s what I’ve been doing for over 38 years now.
In short, the Screven County Sheriff’s Office is your office and is operated for your service and protection. If you have any suggestions to improve the efficiency of its operation, please contact me at 912-564-2013 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
