As officers of the court, the deputies of the Sheriff's Office are responsible for inmate and prisoner appearances in court. This has generated the need for a Division specifically assigned to transports. The Transport Division currently has two deputies, both of whom have received training in corrections.
While not transporting offenders, they serve as community service supervisors, overseeing work crews and special details such as litter pickup and community beautification. While most of their passengers are inmates traveling to and from court, they also transport juveniles to juvenile detention centers and the mentally ill to hospitals for treatment.
